Boys send forklift into Severn River

Three boys playing on a forklift at the Indian Head Landing Marina Monday afternoon released the parking brake, sending the 20,000-pound vehicle into the Severn River.

The children, between 10 and 12 years old, were able to jump off the forklift, valued at $35,000, before it plunged into the water.

Police said the youths rode their bicycles to the Crownsville marina about 4:30 p.m. and began playing on the forklift.

By the time the owner, Art Lilly, realized what was happening, the forklift was traveling down the boat ramp. The boys left before police arrived.

Domestic dispute leads to drug arrests

Two people were arrested on drug charges after police responded to their home Monday morning for a domestic argument.

While in the house in the 300 block of Monticello Court, Glen Burnie, police officers said they found a burned hand-rolled cigarette believed to contain marijuana.

Police said they searched the house and found drug paraphernalia and one-half pound of marijuana.

Sandra Marie Hughes, 22, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Hobert Bellew, whose age police could not provide, was charged with battery and drug possession.

A third woman who police say was arguing with Bellew was not charged.

Man, 23, arrested on drug charges

A 23-year-old Brooklyn Park man was arrested Monday and charged with growing marijuana in his basement apartment.

James Frank Mohlburg, of the 4500 block of Ritchie Highway, was charged with unlawfully manufacturing drugs and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Police say they seized eight marijuana plants, equipment used for growing them, and drug paraphernalia.
