The Young Victorian Theatre Company is presenting Gilbert and Sullivan's "Princess Ida," an operetta with a feminist theme, July 9-11 and July 16-18 in Centennial Hall at Bryn Mawr School on West Melrose Avenue. The renowned Italian opera tenor Carlo Bergonzi will sing the role of Nemorino in the Baltimore Opera Company's 1993 production of Donizetti's "L'Elisir D'Amore," according to the company's general director, Michael Harrison.
Mr. Bergonzi replaces tenor Chris Merritt. Mr. Merritt, a Baltimore resident, has been released from his contract to sing at the Opera de la Bastille in Paris.
