Business on paper

Entrepreneur's Exchange is host of a seminar, "Your Business Image on Paper," at noon July 8, at Busch's Chesapeake Inn, Annapolis.

Dave Cyphers of Choice Communications will discuss representing a business using such items as stationery, logos and business cards.

All business owners are invited. Pre-lunch networking begins at 11:30 a.m. The deadline for reservations is July 3; admission is $14.

Good business tips

The Anne Arundel Trade Council cable television program, "It's Good Business," is broadcast on Jones Intercable channel 42 twice a week, at 7 p.m. Wednesdays and 2 p.m. Fridays. The program is featuring the theme, "It's Good Business to Give," in June.

Jeanette Wessel, Trade Council executive vice president and host of the show, interviews four business leaders who speak about community giving projects.

Hammond wins award

Hammond Associates, an Annapolis-based architectural firm, received an award for Excellence in Residential Development from the Maryland State Planning Commission for its project Woodspring at New Market.

The award, presented June 10 at the State House, honored eight projects in Maryland for planning excellence, outstanding design and sensitivity to the environment, preservation of natural features and protection of wildlife.

The project is a community of 98 single-family homes clustered in small groups on a wooded site in New Market.

John Snyder honored

John Snyder Associates Inc., a Crofton-based advertising and public relations firm, was recently awarded "The Best in Maryland Award" from the Maryland Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

Snyder Associates won the award for its design and implementation of the "Tree-Mendous" Program for Hardee's Restaurants. Earlier this year the same project from the International Association of Business Communicators when the firm was awarded the "Award of Excellence."

UNC has new contract

UNC Incorporated announced that its UNC Aviation Service Division, in conjunction with SEAIR Transport Services of Bakersfield, Calif., has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command to provide aircraft maintenance services.

The services will be provided to helicopters operated by the U.S. Army Airborne Electronics Research Activities at the Naval Air Engineering Center in New Jersey and at the Army's Airborne Electronics Research Detachment in Virginia.

Executive tea time

The Greater Annapolis Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors Committee is sponsoring an Executive Tea from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. July 2 at the Loews Annapolis Hotel Corinthian Restaurant.

Businessmen and businesswomen are welcome to enjoy the afternoon while speaking with chamber members and guests. Tables will be set up to display brochures, cards and materials. Informal networking will take place around the display tables.

Cost is $11 members, $16 nonmembers. Reservations are required and seating is limited.

The Anne Arundel Trade Council and North Arundel Hospital will sponsor a Business Mixer from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 9, at North Arundel Hospital, Glen Burnie.

For council members, registration is $8.50 for paid reservations received by July 3 and $11 at the door. Registration for non-members is $20.

Working at the desk

West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a seminar, "The Organized Desktop: How to Get it Off Your Desk," from 8:30 to 10 a.m. July 16, at the Fort Meade Officer's Club, Fort Meade.

Topics include establishing an effective filing system, learning what to save and discard and how long to keep documents, and selecting information management computer software programs.

Cost is $10 for members, $15 for non-members. Reservations are required by July 13.

Disabled Americans

Anne Arundel Community College is sponsoring a conference on the Americans with Disabilities Act, which becomes effective July 26, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 14, at the People's Resource Center in Crownsville.

Speakers will focus on the content and implementation of the act. Participants will receive advice on how disabled persons can apply for a job and how to review and correct job application forms.

Cost, including lunch, is $70 per person.

Contract claim recovery

Associated Builders and Contractors will present a seminar on contract claim recovery in Maryland and Anne Arundel County from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. July 15 at the Greater Annapolis Chamber of Commerce on the second floor.

The seminar will be led by Donald Spence Jr., former assistant county attorney for Anne Arundel County for administrative and construction matters. Each attendee will receive copies of relevant statutes, regulations and documented information on clauses and claims.

Cost is $40 for ABC members, $60 for non-members. Reservations are due by July 10.
