Pate's 970 set leads qualifiers

Darryl Pate rolled a 970 set to lead the qualifiers in the Country Club Lanes Classic tournament. Pate is bowling in Division C.

Mel Nickel with an 853 leads Division B and Jim Layte with an 843 leads Division A. Other top sets were by Howard Marshall, 908, Jack Bailey, 781, and Leon Scales, 958.

Pate is also the leader in the Mega-Pot Tournament with a 276. Other high scorers include: Bruce Joiner, 243, Vince Pawlowicz, 236, and Layte, 227.

Winning Hammer balls for high games were: Hugh Siar, 245, Marshall, 242, Scales, 237.


High rollers: David Palmisano was the top scorer in the Pro Shop League at Fair Lanes Kings Point with a 234-246-234714. Mark Johnson rolled a 279 game.

Jason Cooper had the high series in the Kings Point Classic League with 206-235-225-234900. Steve Wicker was next with 205-215-211-244875. Brian Cavey rolled a 289 game and Tom Bruns had a 279.


New leader: Marc Panayis of Baltimore has taken over the singles lead in the Hanover (Pa.) Bowling Centre's Tournament, which will run through September.

Panayis rolled games of 213-243-219-183858 to top Harry Ladson, who has an 856.

High games by Marylanders included: Delores Douglass, Baltimore, 226, and Wanda Moore, Baltimore, 202.


Wiseman scores: Danny Wiseman of Dundalk earned money itwo recent PBA Tournaments. He finished 18th in the Earl Anthony Open and won $1,700 and took home $870 for finishing 42nd in the Oregon Open.

Wiseman, who rolled a 300 game in the Anthony tourney, has earned $59,630 in 18 tournaments and ranks No. 9 among PBA Tour money winners. He is also No. 9 in average with 215.82 for 536 games.
