Police hunt for man who struck woman

Bel Air police are continuing to search for a man who assaulted a woman June 20 at the corner of North Main Street and Cressy Road.

Deputy Chief John W. Harkins said a 34-year-old woman was walking in the area when she was approached from behind by a man who struck her in the head several times.

The man fled when the woman screamed, he said.

Harkins said the victim was taken to Fallston General Hospital, where she received nine stitches and was released.

The assailant is described as about 5 feet 7 inches tall, between 150 and 170 pounds, and about 30 to 35 years old.

He has a mole or blemish on the right cheek.
