YMCA honors Greenberg

June 28, 1992

Linda S. Greenberg of Annapolis was recently named the YMCA Camp Letts Volunteer of the Year by the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington, for her Homeless Summer Camp program, now in its fifth year.

The camp was also honored with the President's Cup Award for its part in the program.

This award honors new and innovative YMCA programs that best exemplify the spirit and mission of the YMCA in serving the community.

The program arranges for 40 homeless children, chosen from shelters in Maryland, to spend two weeks at Camp Letts in Edgewater, where they enjoy a full range of activities.

Sponsors include businesses, individuals, churches and the camp itself. They provide tuition, clothing, equipment, transportation and a required medical exam.

Greenberg is active in other programs for the homeless throughout the year, including an annual Camp Letts Thanksgiving Dinner, a Christmas food and clothing drive, an Easter Dinner in Baltimore, and collecting and distributing these goods to homeless shelters.

Information: 841-6280.
