Crews at work after storm disrupts power

Work crews labored overnight restoring service to nearly 13,000 Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. customers whose power was disrupted by a storm that passed through the metropolitan area last night.

Art Slusark, a BG&E spokesman, said all but nearly 1,900 customers had their power restored by 4 a.m. today, including more than 1,700 customers in the Edgewood section of Harford County who lost electricity shortly after 1 a.m. when a tree fell on a power line.

Power was expected to be restored to all the customers later today, Mr. Slusark said.

The storm hit the area about 7 p.m. and was still disrupting service at 8:30 p.m. Mr. Slusark said most outages were caused by tree limbs striking power lines.

Carroll County was the hardest hit. More than 5,800 BG&E customers lost power.

In Harford County, nearly 2,500 customers lost power.
