Suns, Red Sox split

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Mel Wearing's two-run homer in the fifth broke a 4-4 tie, as the Hagerstown Suns defeated the New Britain Red Sox, 6-5, to earn a split in their Double-A Eastern League doubleheader last night.

New Britain won the first game, 7-6, in 10 innings.

Suns left fielder Sergio Cairo went 5-for-8 with three RBI in the doubleheader.
