Two are mugged in Columbia incidents

County police reported two robberies in Columbia Wednesday.

Just after midnight, a 33-year-old man was attacked and robbed by five men near a footbridge leading to the Mall in Columbia.

The man was walking toward the bridge over U.S. 29 when the men threw him to the ground and kicked him.

Police said the victim, who did not get a good look at his attackers, was robbed of $13 and a watch. He suffered bruises to his arms and face.

At 4:30 p.m., a 16-year-old Columbia boy was robbed of his necklace and ring by several youths on the 6900 block of Cradlerock Way.

Three youths, whom the victim knew, have been charged as juveniles in the robbery and released to their parents.

The victim was taken to Howard County General Hospital for treatment of a minor head injury.

5600 block of Phelps Luck Road: A red 1984 Buick Regal, Maryland license PEM-180, was stolen between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday.

5700 block of Flag Flower: A 1990 Jeep Cherokee with Connecticut license plates was stolen between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

10600 block of Green Mountain Circle: A 1988 Chevrolet truck was stolen and recovered by its owner at the Wilde Lake Village Green between 6:50 p.m. Tuesday and 7:55 a.m. Wednesday.

10500 block of Little Patuxent Parkway: A beige 1987 Mazda 626 was stolen between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday.

10200 block of Hickory Ridge Road: A blue 1991 Chevrolet Lumina was stolen between 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 5 p.m. Wednesday.

6100 block of Majors Lane: Someone entered an occupied home through an unlocked front door and stole cash, watches and a jacket between midnight Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday.

7000 block of Eden Brook Way: Someone entered the open front door of a home and took a video-cassette recorder between noon and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

7000 block of Melting Shadows Lane: A 1983 Ford Bronco was stolen between 9:45 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday and recovered at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on Knights Hood Lane.

Ellicott City

3700 block of MacAlpine Road: Elephant tusks and gold elephant foot stands were taken from a home between 2 p.m. June 3 and 3 p.m. June 15.

3100 block of Wheaton Way: A bow and arrows were taken from a storage area between 7 p.m. June 13 and 5 p.m. Wednesday. A fence was cut to enter the residential property.

3600 block of Mount Ida Drive: A door was smashed in a break-in attempt between 5 p.m. June 12 and 12:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Major Motors, 8594 U.S. 40: Someone falsified a lease application for a burgundy 1990 Nissan Sentra and took the car June 13, promising to return with additional deposit money. Police are looking for two women and the car, Maryland license 73035Y.

K&S Medical Corp., 9338 U.S. 40:A man police said was seen prying a door was arrested Wednesday at about 3:15 p.m. Police charged John Spiro Caloyianis, 36, of the 2500 block of Hobbs Road, Glenwood, with breaking and entering and destruction of property.

8200 block of U.S. 1: A window was smashed, a video-cassette recorder was taken from a home between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

8200 block of U.S. 1: Someone attempted to break into a home storage shed by prying off panels between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 8:45 p.m. Thursday.

Marriottsville

11100 block of Douglas Avenue: Screws were driven into the ignition switches of two vehicles in an unlocked garage between 10:15 p.m. June 14 and 8:10 a.m. Monday.
