Samuel S. Walker, 65, founder and president of the New York publishing house that brought John le Carre's novels to America, died May 29 in a kayaking accident near his home in Stonington, Conn. In 1959, he founded Walker Publishing Co., which started start publishing popular British mysteries in America and branched out into publishing children's and nonfiction books.
