Suspended principal resigns

June 14, 1992

An assistant principal at Homestead-Wakefield Elementary School has resigned from his post, effective June 30.

James N. Goodson, 48, of Abingdon, submitted his resignation to the county Board of Education at its meeting Monday. He did not give a reason for the resignation, board spokesman Al Seymour said.

Goodson was suspended with pay after he was charged with child abuse by the Harford Sheriff's Office in January. As an assistant principal, Goodson earns $51,000 a year.

Details of the charges are unavailable because the court has sealed the case. Police said that the case does not involve any students at the elementary school.

Goodson is scheduled for trial in Harford Circuit Court July 9.
