Library needs money
Friends of the Andrew G. Truxal Library at Anne Arundel Community College are asked to help raise acquisition money for the AACC library.
Over $5,000 has been pledged so far, to help fill the gap created by a reduction in college revenue. Books and other printed material is needed in all subjects.
Other departments in the college have pledged money to support the effort.
The second annual Health Care Professional Flag Day Parade-a-Thon takes place starting at 8:15 a.m. June 13 at the Glen Burnie Improvement Association. It will move along the B & A Hiker/Biker Trail and return to the association.
All participants get a free T-shirt and become eligible for prizes. Rest stops with water, refreshments, snacks and restroom facilities will be provided every mile of the 6.2-mile course.
At the end of the parade, there will be a lunch and entertainment by a disc jockey.
The Annapolis Children's Foundation will sponsor an AIDS Walk-a-thon starting at 7 p.m. June 27 at Truxton Park.
Money raised from the event goes to help research at Johns Hopkins Hospital, The Haven, Love and Action and the Annapolis Children's Foundation Education Fund.
