Balto. Co. Council approves budget

May 28, 1992

The Baltimore County Council today approved a $1.15 billion budget for next year that includes an increase in the piggyback income tax rate from 50 to 55 percent.

The only member voting against the piggyback increase was Donald C. Mason, D-7th.

The county's property tax rate will remain unchanged at $2.865 per $100 of assessed value.

As part of an agreement with County Executive Roger B. Hayden, the council cut $7.2 million from the budget and reallocated it to be used to hire 40 new police officers, to restore cuts in the fire department's emergency medical services program and to buy $1 million worth of computers for schools.
