GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- Catcher Mike Peters hit home runs in his first three at-bats yesterday, propelling Essex Community College to a 13-6 victory over the Community College of Rhode Island in the first round of the Junior College World Series.
Peters went 3-for-5 with 6 RBI.
The victory moved unranked Essex (30-4) into a matchup with unranked Community College of Illinois (34-12) tomorrow. Illinois upset No. 4 Seminole Community College, 4-2.
