Safety pin game

You will need enough ribbon to tie around each guest's wrist, plus five small gold safety pins for each person.

Pin five safety pins onto each ribbon bracelet. As each guest arrives, tie a ribbon around her wrist. Choose three common words the guests are not allowed to say throughout the shower -- such as the bridegroom's name, wedding, dress, honeymoon, etc. Instruct the guests that whenever someone hears a person say one of these words, they can take a safety pin from that person. The one with the most pins at the end wins. You may

wish to award the winner an inexpensive prize.

Pun on products game

Purchase a variety of common household products. Wrap and number each one.

Write a story about the bride and bridegroom, leaving blank spaces numbered to correspond with the gift-wrapped items. Give each guest one of the wrapped items. The bride stands up and reads the narrative. When she comes to a blank, the guest with the corresponding number opens that gift and fills in the blank. Make copies of the narrative for each guest to fill in and take home.

For example:

It all began on July 28 when Cindy walked into a party and saw "1." She immediately felt great "2" -- and soon they were giving each other "3" and "4." Both of them, seeking a "5" commitment and "6" for each other, agreed that they would never go "7" again.

Name that name

You will need an easel, a large pad of paper and marking pen. Divide the guests into groups of four to six people each. Before the shower, think of as many titles of movies or songs with a love theme as there are number of guests; for example, "Endless Love," "An Officer and a Gentleman," "Slow Dancing." Write the titles down on separate pieces of papers, fold them in half, and put them in a bowl.

One person from a team picks a name and draws clues for everyone to guess. Set a timer so no one goes over 2 to 3 minutes. The first team to name the title gets a point. The teams are rotated so that everybody gets a turn and the team with the most points wins.
