City police today were investigating two slayings.

The latest occurred about 9:40 last night on North Durham Street in East Baltimore.

Police said Patrick K. Douglas, 22, of the 3000 block of McElderry St., was talking to three men in the 1800 block of N. Durham St.

Witnesses said one of the men fired at least one shot that struck Mr. Douglas in the back as he ran. Then the gunman shot him two more times, witnesses said.

Mr. Douglas died at Johns Hopkins Hospital, police said.

Yesterday evening, Gregory Turnipseed, 22, of the 1800 block of Ashburton St., was fatally shot while seated inside a car with three other people in the 2900 block of Garrison Blvd.

Police said a man approached and fired into the vehicle, hitting Mr. Turnipseed twice in the chest.

He died a short time later at Liberty Medical Center.
