SHOOTING AT/ARREST: Northwestern District -- A man was being held on $75,000 bond after he fired a handgun at another man during an incident in the alley behind the 3300 block of St. Ambrose Ave. Police said Andre Clack, 26, of the 4600 block of Park Heights Ave., was standing in the alley around 5:30 a.m. yesterday when George Pennix, 46, of the 3300 block of St. Ambrose Ave., left his house to empty the trash. The two men exchanged words, and Mr. Pennix went inside, returning with a baseball bat. When Mr. Pennix told the man to leave and threatened him with the bat, police said, Mr. Clack picked up two boards and threatened to hit Mr. Pennix. Police said Mr. Pennix again went into his house, returning this time with a .41-caliber Magnum handgun. Police said Mr. Pennix fired three shots at Mr. Clack, but missed. Later, Mr. Pennix was arrested at his home without incident and charged with assault by shooting at Mr. Clack, possession of a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm in the city.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- A 71-year-old resident of the 680 block of Park Heights Ave. was robbed of her $2,000 diamond ring yesterday morning while waiting for a bus in the 3800 block of Labyrinth Road at 11:15 a.m. A man in his late teens told her to give him the ring, police said. When she refused, the man pulled the ring from her finger and fled. Police said the ring contained a 1.5 karat white diamond.

ROBBERY/ARRESTS: Western District -- Police charged two men yesterday with robbery and assault after a $25 robbery of an out-of-town man in the 300 block of N. Stricker St. around 2 a.m. Charged were Anthony Crosby, 28, of the 1000 block of Argyle Ave., and William Frazier, no age given, of the 800 block of W. Lombard St. Mr. Crosby also was charged with cocaine possession. Mr. Crosby was held overnight in lieu of $20,000 bond. Mr. Frazier was being held on $7,500 bail.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A man waiting to pay his bill at a carry-out in the 1900 block of W. Lafayette Ave. Wednesday night was robbed of his money about 10 p.m. The victim, a resident of the 2000 block of Rayner Ave., told police he chased his assailant briefly.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 3100 block of Lyndale Ave. reported that someone broke into her 1991 Buick and stole several cassette tapes, office equipment, a child's car seat and other pieces of property valued at more than $300.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Someone broke into a house in the 1900 block of E. 28th St. that had been extensively damaged by fire earlier and removed the furnace, water heater and some metal piping.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- A $300 gas grill was stolen yesterday from the back yard of a home in the 3400 block of Juneway.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 1500 block of Gleneagle Road reported that someone broke a window in her home and stole a VCR worth nearly $300.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- Property valued at nearly $200 was stolen from a house in the 4700 block of Parkside Garden Drive yesterday after someone entered through a kitchen window.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Police said someone entered the back yard of a house in the 4500 block of Shamrock Ave. early yesterday morning and stole a clothes washer and dryer valued at nearly $600.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 4400 block of Franconia Drive reported that someone stole his multi-speed bike valued at more than $200.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 5900 block of Schering Road was in the 5600 block of Sinclair Lane early yesterday morning when two men, one with a weapon, demanded his money. Police said the victim gave up more than $100.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 5900 block of Eurith Ave. reported the theft of a weed cutting machine and a leaf blower valued at $400.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- Employees of Chesapeake Woodworking in the 700 block of North Point Boulevard reported that someone entered their building Wednesday and stole several power tools valued at more than $900 from the workshop.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- A 29-year-old resident of the 4800 block of Lorelly Ave. told police she was walking in the 5000 block of Sinclair Lane early Wednesday morning when two men who knocked her to the sidewalk and robbed her of $20.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- A lawn mower valued at about $300 was taken from the back porch of a house in the 5800 block of Benton Heights Ave.

THEFT: Northeastern District -- An 18-speed bike worth more than $100 was stolen Tuesday from the back yard of a house in the 2700 block of Strathmore Road.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Several hand and power tools valued at more than $400 were stolen from a garage in the 4400 block of Clydesdale Ave.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Radios, auto parts and other property valued at more than $1,000 were stolen from Economy Used Autos in the 500 block of E. 25th St.
