Gov. William Donald Schaefer was right to choose a political insider, Capt. Larry Tolliver, to head the State Police, in the view of more than 84 percent of the callers to SUNDIAL. Of 1,408 callers, 1,187 support that view, while 221 (15 percent) say the governor was wrong.

Of 1,372 callers, 1,184, or 86 percent, believe Captain Tolliver can be an effective leader, while 188 (13 percent) say he can't.
