Chicago Cubs -- Announced that P Lance Dickson of Triple-A Iowa underwent arthroscopic surgery on his pitching shoulder and will be out of action for the rest of the summer.

Kansas City Royals -- Placed IF Keith Miller on the 15-day DL Recalled IF Terry Shumpert from Triple-A Omaha.

Texas Rangers -- Recalled P Gerald Alexander from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Sent P Roger Pavlik to Oklahoma City.

Denver Nuggets -- Named Dan Issel coach. Named Gene Littles and Mike Evans assistant coaches.

Houston Rockets -- Named interim coach Rudy Tomjanovich coach and gave him a three-year contract.

Colleges

Citadel -- Named Benjy Taylor assistant basketball coach.

Colgate -- Named Don Vaughan ice hockey coach.

College of Charleston -- Announced 6-6 F Ryan Amestoy (3.9 points, 1.1 rebounds in 22 games last season) has transferred from Clemson and will be eligible to play in 1993-94.

North Carolina-Charlotte -- Has been accepted as a member of the Big South Conference, effective the 1992-93 school year. Other members are Towson State, UMBC, Campbell, UNC-Asheville, Radford, Winthrop, Liberty, Charleston Southern and USC Coastal Carolina.

Purdue -- Announced that George King, Purdue athletic director since 1971 and coach of the Boilermakers' 1969 Big Ten #F

champion basketball team, will retire June 30.

Football

New England Patriots -- Named James Hausmann vice president and chief financial officer. Signed DE Tim Edwards and TE Al Golden.

Philadelphia Eagles -- Signed lineman Chris Conlin, WR Brian Dowler and DB Stacy Harrison.
