Constance L. Martin of Ellicott City died Sunday at University of Maryland Hospital after a 15-year battle with cancer. She was 51.
Born in Washington and raised in Arlington and Falls Church, Va., the former Constance Miller earned her nursing degree from Alexandria Hospital, where she worked for a year before marrying her husband, Luis G. Martin. She later worked part time at the Ridgeway Manor nursing home in Catonsville.
She also served in several committees for the Howard County YMCA and the North St. John's Swim and Tennis Club.
In 1987 she was named "Parent of the Year" by the Maryland Swimming Association.
Her favorite hobbies were cooking, exercise classes and arts and crafts.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Luis G. Martin; three sons, Eugene D. Martin of Baltimore, Luis A. Martin of Baltimore, and Francis J. Martin of Ellicott City; a daughter, Maria R. Martin of Ellicott City; and a brother, David C. Miller of McLean, Va.
A Mass of Christian burial was offered yesterday at the Church of the Resurrection in Ellicott City.
