Two of Harford County's top student-athletes -- one girl and one boy -- will receive $5,000 scholarships at the seventh annual Al Cesky Scholarship Fund Awards Banquet Wednesday night at the Richlin Ballroom in Edgewood.
The event, honoring 22 male and female graduating student-athletes from all 11 Harford County high schools, begins at 6 p.m. with a social hour, followed by dinner and the awards. The 20 finalists will receive $500 scholarships.
This year's nominees are: Amy Moxey and Matt Slutzky, Aberdeen; Carly Bivens and Rob Smallwood, Bel Air; Kim Haker and Greg Cooper, C. Milton Wright; Cindy Sotaski and Ty Long, Edgewood; Tammy Kloiber and Brett Seidel, Fallston; Kimberly McCleary and Carty Ingram, Harford Christian; Betty Piner and Paul Melton, Harford Tech; Karen Romanelli and Sami Zaman, Havre de Grace; Jenny Lund and Jake Hollin, John Carroll; Jennifer Francis and Tim Miller, Joppatowne; and Valerie Phipps and Chris Kloss, North Harford.
