Smoking in schools

It's your call

May 14, 1992

Of 277 callers to SUNDIAL, 227 (81 percent) say everyone should be prohibited from smoking inside schools. Fifty callers (18 percent) disagree.

Of 276 callers, 131 (47 percent) say teachers and other school employees should be allowed to smoke in outside designated areas, but 145 callers (52 percent) say they should not be allowed to do so.

By a margin of 62 percent to 37 percent and a count of 172 to respondents say smoking should be banned everywhere on school property.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as a scientific public opinion poll would be.
