Montreal Expos -- Placed C Darrin Fletcher (bronchitis) on the 15-day DL. Recalled OF Darren Reed from his injury-rehabilitation assignment at Single-A West Palm Beach.

Texas Rangers -- Purchased the contract of C Doug Davis from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Designated P Mike Campbell for reassignment. Activated P Brian Bohanon from the 15-day DL and optioned him to Double-A Tulsa. Announced that P Todd Burns has cleared waivers and was assigned to Oklahoma City.

Los Angeles Lakers -- Announced the resignation of coach Mike Dunleavy, so he can become coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.

New Jersey Nets -- Announced the resignation of coach Bill Fitch.

Baylor -- Named Darrel Johnson men's basketball coach and signed him to a five-year contract.

Denison -- Named Guy Neal men's basketball coach.

Frostburg State -- Named Mike McGlinchey football coach.

Oklahoma -- Announced that C Anthony Cade will forgo his

senior year to enter the NBA draft.

DTC Cleveland Browns -- Waived TE John Talley.

Houston Oilers -- Signed G Jeff Kiziah, S Kevin Long, S Charles Pharms, OT John Nee, WR Curtis Reed and LB Jeroy Robinson.

Kansas City Chiefs -- Signed DB Doug Terry, WR Marcus Grant, WR Byron Jackson and LB Santo Stephens.

New York Giants -- Signed WR Merton Harris and CB Brian Allred (Hammond).

Hartford Whalers -- Fired general manager Ed Johnston.

Philadelphia Flyers -- Extended the contract of coach Bill Dineen, who took over at midseason and was 24-23-9 the remainder of the season. Terms of the contract were not announced.

USA Basketball -- Named Portland Trail Blazers G Clyde Drexler and Duke C Christian Laettner to the Olympic team.
