Dr. John Leslie Enyart, a physician who lived in the Homeland section of North Baltimore in the 1960s and 1970s while working for Maryland's health department, died Sunday of heart failure at a nursing home in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Services for Dr. Enyart, 93, were being held today at the Quattlebaum-Holleman-Burse Funeral Home in West Palm Beach.
Another service and burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia at 9 a.m. Friday.
He had retired in 1958 as a captain in the Navy Medical Corps. He commanded naval hospitals in this country and, during World War II, in Britain. He also served with the French Navy and was part of a mission to the Nationalist Chinese government at the end of the war.
He studied at Johns Hopkins Hospital in the 1940s. After the war, he was commander of the medical school at the Naval Medical Center in Bethesda.
