BY THE NUMBERS

May 13, 1992

This Hanover-based company, which develops crop-protection systems that substitute biopesticides for synthetic chemicals, said yesterday that it lost $1.65 million, or 43 cents per common share, in the first quarter, compared with a loss of $1.45 million, or 45 cents per common share, a year ago.

Revenue increased to $620,400 for the quarter that ended March 31 from $601,800 in the same quarter last year, the company said. Accounting for some of that gain was research revenue, which rose to $437,500 from $100,000. Investment income, however, dropped to $162,700 during the quarter from $501,200 a year earlier.
