Ben Frommer, 78, a character actor in films and on television, died yesterday in Burbank, Calif. His film credits included "Scarface" in 1983. He also appeared on such TV shows as "F Troop" and "Hawaii Five-O."
Wilbur Hobby, 66, president of the North Carolina AFL-CIO from HTC 1969 to 1980, when he was charged with fraud, died Saturday in Durham, N.C. He had suffered from diabetes. In 1981, he was sentenced to a year in prison after being convicted of misusing federal job-training funds awarded to his printing company.
