* Coast Guard Apprentice Robert R. Rieger, son of Robert R. Rieger Sr. of Hampstead, recently graduated from Coast Guard Recruit Training Center.

During the training cycle at Coast Guard Recruit Training Center, Cape May, N.J., students are taught general military subjects designed to prepare them for academic and on-the-job training leading toward one of the Coast Guard's 26 occupational fields.

A 1985 graduate of Mount Hebron High School, Ellicott City, Howard County, Rieger joined the Coast Guard in February 1992.

* Navy Airman Apprentice Christopher A. George recently completed the Aviation Electrician's Mate Course.

During the course at the Naval Air Technical Training Center, Naval Air Station Memphis, Millington, Tenn., students receive introductory instruction required for maintenance on naval aircraft, including specialized training on electrical and electronic instrument systems.

The son of June E. George of Mount Airy, George is a graduate of Linganore High School, Frederick County. He joined the Navy in April 1991.

* Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class John J. Brewer, son of John J. Brewer Sr. of Mount Airy, recently reported for duty aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger, Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego.

He is a 1990 graduate of Walkersville High School, Frederick County.

* Marine Pfc. Phillip E. Bell, son of Jean Bell of Sykesville, recently completed the School of Infantry.

During the course at School of Infantry, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N.C., students receive classroom instruction and participate in field exercises involving infantry tactics, construction and camouflage of fighting positions and the use of mines, demolitions and intra-company communications equipment.

The 1988 Liberty High School graduate joined the Marine Corps in July 1991.
