Tiffany Gordon, a student at Bryn Mawr School, was one of 100 students nationwide selected as a scholarship recipient in the 1992 Japan-U.S. Senate Scholarship Program. She will spend six weeks with a host family in Japan as part of an exchange program for U.S. high school students.

Kelley Lynn Bellinger, a senior at South Carroll High School, has been awarded a presidential scholarship by the College of Notre Dame of Maryland.

Brenda Logue, Towson State University director of forensics, was awarded the 1992 Brownlee Outstanding Debate Coach Award. The TSU forensics team placed fifth in the nation in the Spring Sweepstakes Division of the National Debate Organization.

Margaret Ostermaier, a student at Villa Julie College, has been awarded a scholarship by the Reisterstown chapter of the American Association of University Women.

Elaine May Erickson was awarded $1,000 by the National League of American Pen Women Inc. for placing first in a music competition for an opera she composed.

The following students at Archbishop Curley High School were nominated for the Maryland Distinguished Scholar Program High Achiever Category: Brian J. Brune, Bernard A. Fischer IV, Kevin R. Gross, Mark H. Hess, Andrew M. Kowalevicz Jr., Derek P. Malagrin and Derek J. Wiley.

Tamara Gibson, a senior at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, has received a Graduate Fellowship for Minorities and Women in the Sciences from the National Physical Science Consortium.

Rosetta Stith and Loretta Bryant, principal and assistant principal, respectively, of the Laurence G. Paquin Middle/Senior High School for Expectant Teenage Mothers, were recognized by St. John's A.M.E. Church as being among the church's 50 outstanding African-American women.

Courtney Krasowski and Jennifer Daddura, students at St. Joseph Fullerton School, won first and second place, respectively, in the Anti-Drug Poster Contest, sponsored by Sandra A. O'Connor from Baltimore County's State's Attorney's Office.

Robert E. Fischell, a Johns Hopkins University physicist, received a Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Duke University School of Engineering.

Terra Jones, director of financial aid at Dundalk Community College, has received the 1991-92 Distinguished Service Award from Delaware/D.C./Maryland Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators.

The following students have been selected to receive Villa Julie College's highest award, the Key Scholarship: Jessica Beach, Megan Lee Blank, Nicole Rene Egerton, Forrest Kip Gladding, Stanley Irvin Legg III, David Anthony Simon, Steven Robert Sexton and Shannon Renee Weaver.
