Cleveland Indians -- Sent P Eric Bell to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Called up P Mike Christopher from Colorado Springs.

Montreal Expos -- Assigned C Gilberto Reyes outright to Triple-A Indianapolis. Announced that Reyes refused assignment and chose to become a free agent.

New York Mets -- Claimed OF Chico Walker on waivers from the Chicago Cubs. Sent IF Chris Donnels to Triple-A Tidewater.

New York Yankees -- Activated 2B Pat Kelly from the 15-day DL. Optioned OF Mike Humphreys to Triple-A Columbus.

Philadelphia Phillies -- Activated OF Dale Murphy from the 15-day DL. Optioned P Darrin Chapin to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

St. Louis Cardinals -- Placed IF Tim Jones on the 15-day DL. Recalled IF Luis Alicea from Triple-A Louisville.

Texas Rangers -- Purchased the contract of P Mike Campbell from Triple-A Oklahoma City.


Arizona State -- C Melvin Robison announced he will forgo his senior season and enter the NBA draft.

Southern Cal -- G Harold Miner announced he was declaring

himself eligible for the NBA draft.


NFL -- Named Dennis Curran executive director and general counsel of the NFL Management Council.

St. Louis Blues -- Named Harold Snepsts assistant coach.


Wichita Wings -- Signed D Kim Roentved.
