Nine children from Point Pleasant Elementary School received minor injuries yesterday when their school bus was hit from behind by a 1974 Mack truck.
The bus had stopped to discharge passengers after school and had its red warning lights on, county police said.
The bus, stopped on Margate Drive near Margate Court, was pushed almost 40 feet by the force of the impact.
Five children were taken by ambulance to Harbor Hospital Center in Baltimore and four to Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Police said the driver of the truck, Timothy E. Keene, 27, of the 8500 block of Neptune Drive in Pasadena, was charged with failure to reduce speed.
