Driver Nearly Collides With Cruiser, Is Arrested

A 35-year-old Annapolis man was charged with driving with a suspended license early Saturday after nearly colliding with a police cruiser, police said.

Anthony W. Tooles of the 700 block of Glenwood St. was arrested at 12:45 a.m. in the 1600 block of West St., police said. A police officer reported that Tooles abruptly swerved in front of him.

MAN ARRESTED, CHARGED WITH DRUG POSSESSION

An Edgewater man was arrested Saturday night on drug charges after he allegedly tossed a small bag of heroin into bushes near an Annapolis athletic club, city police said.

Livingston S. Williams, 20, of the 800 block of Mayo Road, was charged with possession of narcotics after he dropped the bag when a police officer walked up to him about 8:30 p.m. near the Merritt Athletic Club on Moreland Parkway, police said.

PROSECUTORS REVIEW CROWNSVILLE SHOOTING

County prosecutors are reviewing the death of a Crownsville man who was shot Friday night during a fight with his estranged wife's boyfriend.

William Wooten, 37, of the 1100 block of General's Highway has not been charged in the 10 p.m. shooting death of Charles Lee Davidson, 30, of the unit block of Hampton Road in Crownsville.

Capt. Michael Fitzgibbons said the shooting may have been motivated by self-defense.

According to the police report, Davidson forced his way into his estrangedwife's home in the 1100 block of Crownsville Road.

He fought withWooten, who lives with Cherrie Lynn Davidson, police said. Wooten produced a .22-caliber handgun and ordered Davidson to stop fighting.

Davidson refused, and Wooten fired two shots, police said.

GLEN BURNIE WOMAN RAPED IN HER HOME

A Glen Burnie woman told police she was raped early Saturday morning by a man who knocked on her door.

Police said the woman, who lives in the 4000 block of Ritchie Highway,answered a knock on her door at 12:30 a.m. A man forced his way inside and dragged her into the bedroom, threw her on the bed and raped her, police said.

Police gave no description of the rapist.
