The Anne Arundel Trade Council's has extended its spring membership drive deadline to Thursday.

Any company joining the Trade Council by the deadline will be eligible for the special membership drive offer waiving a customary $25 application fee. In addition, companies joining the Trade Council this month can be assured of inclusion in theAnne Arundel Trade Council 1992-1993 Membership Directory, "The Resource."

The Trade Council serves the Anne Arundel County business community through a wide range of programs and services.

TRAFFIC CONGESTION

The Annapolis Regional Transportation Management Association recently announced that it recognizes the need tomitigate the congestion that persists along the Riva Road, Route 665and Route 2 corridors, especially congestion related to entrance to and exit from employment areas.

UMBRO RETAINS SASS

Sass and Associates of Annapolis announced that the soccer company, UMBRO U.S.A, has chosen it as its advertising agency after aformal review of over 30 agencies.

UMBRO is the official supplierof soccer apparel and equipment to many of the top international teams and professional clubs in the world, including England, Scotland, Brazil and Mexico.

GRAND OPENING

What A Doll Shop and Hospital will open May 2 through May 9.

Doll lovers, collectors and browsers are invited to join in the celebration, whichwill include a free drawing on May 9 for a porcelain doll, called "Little Sweetheart," from the Georgetown collection.

ARCHITECTS SOUGHT

The Chesapeake Bay chapter of the American Institute of Architects is seeking qualified applicants for its annual $500 Architectural Scholarship Award.

JONES HIRES CROSBY

Crosby Communications Inc. of Annapolis has been selected as the marketing communications agency for Jones Intercable Inc.,a cable TV system serving northern and western Anne Arundel County.

Crosby will work with Jones on various marketing and public relations programs, including producing a quarterly customer newsletter, conducting research surveys and promoting Jones' community activities.

Crosby's first project for Jones was coordination of a visit by Mickey Mouse, courtesy of the Disney Channel, to Anne Arundel Medical Center and Sarah's House.

LOEWS' GOLF DEAL

Loews Annapolis Hotel announced its 1992 Summer Golf Meeting Package.

Beginning July 1, golfers can flee the Washington area with "Ball and Tee" for only $190 per person. The "Fun, Sun, a Hole in One" package includes transportation from Washington, Maryland or Virginia to Loews Annapolis Hotel. Also included is a complimentary meeting room, continental breakfast,box lunch for golf course, and, for every 20 rooms booked, a complimentary staff room.

The package is available to groups of 20 or more and is based on availability.

ARNOLD PICKSARUNDEL

Anne Arundel County has been selected by NES Arnold, a British supplier of educational materials, for the company's wholesale distribution headquarters for its U.S. and Canadian markets.

NES Arnold will initially employ five people at its 8,300-square-foot facility in Glen Burnie and expects to double the staff within three years.

WRIGHT'S ADDS TRUCK

Dial Wright's Courier Network Inc. expandedits delivery capabilities by adding a 16-foot cargo truck that allows for same-day transport of up to 10,000 pounds.

This new vehicle offers local businesses the economical transfer of large, same-day delivery orders.

The Crofton-based courier company serves the Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington areas.

SNYDER WINS AWARDS

John H. Snyder Associates, Inc., a Crofton-based advertising and public relations agency, was honored with two awards at a banquet by the Baltimore Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators.

The first award came in the External Programs and Campaigns Category for a public relations campaign JHSA designed and implemented for Hardee's Restaurant's Tree-Mendous Program. The second award was in the Special Publications and Brochures category for a self-promotion brochure the agency designed, "They Won't Know If You Don't Tell Me."

FIRST NIGHT RELOCATES

With the support of Loews Annapolis Hotel, First Night Annapolis has moved into a larger space at 126 West St., Annapolis.

The office is filled with volunteers at work on preparations for First Night Annapolis 1993, the third annual New Year's Eve Celebration of the Lively Arts.

MILLERSVILLE OFFICE MOVES

Millersville Office Center/Word Movers will be moving in mid-May.

The new Executive Suite Center will be in the I-97 Business Park at 1120-C Benfield Blvd. Twenty furnished offices, served by a full secretarial support staff, will be in the facility.
