Horning lifts Mount to 16-11 win

EMMITSBURG -- Charlie Horning scored four goals and had four assists yesterday to help Mount St. Mary's (4-8) break its seven-game losing streak with a 16-11 victory over Virginia Military Institute (9-4).

The Mountaineers trailed 6-2 with 13:02 left in the first half before scoring six straight goals to finish the half with an 8-6 lead. Horning and Matt Abraham, who finished with three goals, had two each in the rally.

Mount St. Mary's outshot VMI 57-29 and had a 25-5 face-off advantage. Freshman Mike Dorn (Loyola) won 20 of 22 faceoffs for the Mountaineers.
