Gordice E. Knefely

Gordice Elizabeth Knefely, a native of Crisfield who taught school as a young woman, died Tuesday of heart and kidney failure at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 89.

Services for Mrs. Knefely were being held today at First and St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, 6915 York Road.

She lived on Dunkirk Road in Anneslie.

The former Gordice Elizabeth Nelson was a 1923 graduate of what is now Towson State University.

She taught for a few years before her marriage of 62 years to George McLanahan Knefely, who died in 1990.

She is survived by two daughters, Edith Y. Santiago of Anneslie and Sandra E. Jones of Gambrills; a son, Dr. George M. Knefely Jr. of Pensacola, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
