Piney Run Park Plans Earth Day Celebration

Hope for a cooperative Mother Nature and good weather and take yourselves to Piney Run Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday for a celebration of Earth Day 1992.

Among the planned activities are a bike tour, face painting, bee keepers, live entertainment, earth stations and more.

The park is at 30 Martz Road, Eldersburg. Information: 857-0688.


It's spring and that means outdoor events, such as South Carroll High School's craft show, yard sale and car wash to defray the cost of upcoming proms for the classes of 1993-1995.

Some 32 vendorswill offer baseball cards, crafts, balloons and more from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the school, 1300 Old W. Liberty Road, Winfield.

Pleasant Valley Fire Company is serving a fried shrimp and turkey family-style supper with bake table 1 to 7 p.m. at the fire hall, 2030 S. Pleasant Valley Road.

Cost is $8 for adults and $2.50 for children; carry-outs for $9.

The Carroll County Association for Retarded Citizens' Residential Services Program is havinga spaghetti dinner 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Albright Building, 180 Kriders Church Road, Westminster.

Take a break from the daily grind at the Arts Council's monthly Coffee House, a diverse acoustic program, at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Winchester Exchange, 15 E. Main St., Westminster.

Sunday also offers avariety of activities.

For the healthy conscious, take care of yourself and help prevent birth defects by participating in the March of Dimes Walk America 1992, coming to Carroll County for the first time.

Sign-in time is 8-10 a.m. Sunday at South Carroll High School, 1300 Old W. Liberty Road, Winfield. The 10-mile circular walk will bemarked with 40 milestones noting medical breakthroughs in the fight against birth defects.

After walking, ride to Carroll Community College for the Arts Festival, including demonstrations, videos, art exhibit, food, face painting, clown and campus tours noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at 1601 Washington Road, Westminster.

Don't leave the college without hearing the Honors MusicRecital, featuring CCC voice, piano and guitar students at 3 p.m. All activities are free.

If you're still tapping your feet from Saturday night, keep moving at the CarrollPromenaders' modern western square dance, featuring Steve Jacques' calls at 6 p.m. Sunday at North Carroll High School, 3801 Hampstead-Mexico Road, Hampstead.
