Richard F. Schauber

Richard F. Schauber, chairman of the board of the Chestertown Brick Co., died Saturday of heart failure at the Magnolia Hall Nursing Center there. He was 87.

A Mass of Christian burial for Mr. Schauber was being offered today at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Chestertown, where he lived for many years.

He had been board chairman since retiring in 1982 from the day-to-day operation of the company started by his father.

He became active in the brick company in 1933 after the death of his father.

His wife, the former Frances Woodall, died in 1982.

He is survived by two sons, Richard Schauber of Centreville and James Schauber of Worton; two daughters, Dottie Mench of Chestertown and Janet Manown of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands; two sisters, Mary T. Cohey of Chestertown and Marie Connolly of Queen Anne; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
