Warren Duckett Sr.

Warren Bird Duckett Sr., former chief of the Maryland State Roads Commission's Bureau of Construction Inspection, died yesterday of respiratory arrest at the Ginger Cove Health Care Center in Annapolis after a brief illness. He was 86.

Services for Mr. Duckett will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Taylor Funeral Chapel, 147 Gloucester St., Annapolis.

Born in Baltimore, Mr. Duckett moved to Anne Arundel County as a child and eventually settled in Annapolis.

After attending St. John's Military Academy, he joined the State Roads Commission in 1924. He retired in 1971 after 47 years of service.

He was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Annapolis and a life member of the Annapolis Yacht Club and Southern Maryland Society.

He also belonged to the National Society of Professional Engineers and the American Association of State Highway Officials.

Mr. Duckett is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Mary Knight Linthicum; a son, Anne Arundel County Circuit Judge Warren B. Duckett Jr. of Annapolis; a daughter, Catherine Bowie Miller of York, Pa.; a brother, retired Anne Arundel County Circuit Judge Oden Bowie Duckett of Annapolis; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association, 58 State Circle, Annapolis 21401.
