Actions by the United Way

It's your call

April 17, 1992

The United Way of Central Maryland has decided to change the way it pays dues to the national United Way of America and to more closely monitor the management of the national organization to ensure it is "held accountable." However, the local group chose not to cut off ties with the national as a few other affiliates have done. The actions were taken in the wake of recent disclosures of financial abuses by United Way of America officials.

The Evening Sun would like to know if you feel the moves by the board of United Way of Central Maryland are sufficient? Or should it sever its ties with United Way of America? Has the national scandal affected your giving to United Way?

To register your opinion, call SUNDIAL at 783-1800 (or 268-7736 in Anne Arundel County) today through midnight Sunday.

Look for the results in Monday's Evening Sun.
