Towson Tigers romp over Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Lindsay Dixon scored four goals and Donald Connolly and Joe Genovese added three goals and two assists each, as No. 3 Towson State (7-1) routed No. 7 Penn State (7-1) yesterday, 16-8, in lacrosse. It was the Tigers' sixth straight win over Penn State and halted the Nittany Lions' two-year winning streak at 11.

Towson overcame an early 2-0 deficit with four successive goals. Leading 7-4, Towson State scored one second before halftime when Genovese fed Dixon for a goal.

Genovese and Dixon produced the first two goals of the third period for a 10-4 margin, as the Tigers took out their frustration over Saturday's loss at Hofstra.

"We never executed what we planned to do on offense," said Penn State coach Glenn Thiel. "Towson State had a field day on defense."
