City police to cut 2 top-level posts

April 15, 1992

Police Commissioner Edward V. Woods said yesterday that jTC continuing reorganization of Baltimore's Police Department will eliminate a division and two top-level positions.

Together with recent shifts that eliminated another top-level job, the new changes will save about $150,000 in salaries, officials said.

Part of a five-year plan, the moves are intended to "scale down the bureaucracy," Commissioner Woods said.

The city Police Department is being restructured in an attempt to bring it closer to the city's neighborhoods and make it more responsive to them.
