Callers don't favor Orioles in AL East

Either April Fools' Day came two weeks late or "It's Your Call" respondents see the AL East race differently from most of the experts.

Asked to pick where the supposedly improved Orioles would finish in the division this season, the majority (36 percent) said in last place. The other 286 of the 449 callers put the Orioles in first place (7 percent), second (9.5), third (13.5), fourth (10), fifth (12) and sixth (11 percent).

The Cleveland Indians, of all people, garnered much support for winning the AL East title. Some 137 of 447 callers (30.5 percent) picked the Indians to win the division, exceeded only by heavy favorite Toronto (39 percent). Boston (6.5 percent), Detroit (3), Milwaukee (1), New York (13) and Baltimore (7 percent) also had their supporters.

"It's Your Call" represents a sampling of opinions from certain segments of the community, but it is not balanced demographically, as would be done in a scientific public opinion poll.
