The Alumni and Friends Association of Anne Arundel Community Collegeis looking for a recent graduate to reward this May with a scholarship to the University of Baltimore.
Candidates for the association's $3,200 Wilson Scholarship must have earned their degrees at AACC between December 1985 and May 1991.
They must have earned at least a 3.25 grade-point average in a program that matches university programs, be able to enroll for the fall 1992 semester, have no degree beyond an associate's and submit a 250-word essay on "What the Wilson Alumni Scholarship Means to Me."
The deadline is April 20, and the winner will be a guest at the AACC commencement ceremonies at 7 p.m. May 21.
The scholarship pays tuition up to $800 per semester for four semesters, or $400 a semester for eight semesters.
Recipients must be either full-time students taking 12 credits or part-time students taking at least six credits.
APPLY FOR TRANSFERS
Parents whowish to have their children attend public school outside their regular attendance area must apply for permission before July 1 if they are doing so for the first time.
Special transfers may be granted for students whose parents work and need day-care arrangements, or for students whose special needs have been identified and supported by professional recommendations. The receiving school must have adequate space to accommodate special transfer students.
Applications may beobtained at any county public school and should be submitted to the Coordinator of Pupil Personnel, Anne Arundel County Public Schools, 2644 Riva Road, Annapolis, 21401.
Students currently approved for special transfer do not need to reapply unless they are in high school, are in transition from elementary to middle school, or from middle school to senior high school.
Reapplications from students with special needs must include documentation from recognized professionals or agencies that the special transfer should continue.
Reapplications are also due by July 1.
