Walt Disney's vision of family fun that sprouted in Anaheim, Calif., with the 1955 opening of Disneyland has finally crossed the Atlantic. And tomorrow's opening near Paris of the Euro Disney theme park would not be a Disney affair without being celebrated on television, as CBS plans a same-day, prime-time special highlighting the Gallic gala.
The "Euro Disney Special" will air at 8 p.m. (Channel 11), with husband/wife movie stars Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson as hosts. The network promises the show "will blend the glitter and excitement of the opening ceremonies with the stellar performances and the magic of Disney."
Among the guest stars are Cher, Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine, the Four Tops, the Gypsy Kings, the Temptations, Tina Turner and the Disney All-American Marching Band.
