Maryland women rout Towson, 15-4

April 08, 1992

Maryland, ranked No. 2 in women's lacrosse, tuned up for Saturday's visit to No. 1 Harvard with a 15-4 rout of Towson State yesterday.

The Terps (6-0) trailed in the second minute, but took a 6-2 lead into halftime and rapidly added to it. Freshman Laura Harmon led Maryland with four goals, and Betsy Elder, Leigh Frendberg, Maureen Scott and Ann Krumbiegel had two apiece.

"We're playing very well right now," Maryland coach Cindy Timchal said. "We were pretty banged up from playing Temple Sunday, and I was worried about Towson State. It seems like Jen's been out to watch us every game."

She was referring to Jen Ulehla, an All-American for the Terps last year who is the interim coach at Towson State (5-1) while Alison Williams is on maternity leave.

Jen Breakey, a sophomore from Loch Raven who played at Franklin & Marshall in 1990, had two goals for the Tigers, giving her 19 for the season. She's the East Coast Conference Player of the Week.
