Ballpark Figures

Janis Rettaliata found beauty at the site of the new Camden Yards stadium from the first day of construction; beauty in light, color and form.

During the creation of Oriole Park at Camden Yards and the renovation of the adjoining structures, this gifted local photographer spent 1,000 hours recording more than 2,000 images of the interplay and effect that light had on steel, &L concrete, brick, glass, plastic and other essential building materials.

Sun Magazine published a number of these outstanding photographs last year, and on the eve of the inaugural Opening Day at the new stadium, we've selected another evocative gallery. Her unique vision of the stadium project will be collected in a book, tentatively set for summer publication.
