City woman faces handgun charge

April 01, 1992

City police arrested a 32-year-old woman who was seen handing a pistol to a man who pointed the weapon at a city police officer Monday night and was shot.

Rose Marie Brown, of the 1600 block of E. North Ave., was arrested about 11 a.m. yesterday, police said.

Ms. Brown, charged with possession of a handgun, was observed by police handing a .32-caliber revolver to Bernard Hilton, 22, of the 1000 block of Abbott Court, as two police officers approached them in the 1600 block of E. Federal St. about 10 p.m.

Officer Michael McGee reported he chased Mr. Hilton a short distance when the suspect turned and pointed the gun at him. The officer fired twice, one round hitting Mr. Hilton in the chest.

Mr. Hilton was reported to be in guarded condition at University of Maryland Medical Center.

Ms. Brown fled when police approached but was arrested later.
