ROBBERY/ARREST: Western District -- Police arrested TC 19-year-old man and charged him with robbing a teen-ager of his bicycle. Police said the victim was riding his bicycle in the 1100 block of N. Calhoun St. around 10 p.m. when he was assaulted by a man who took the bicycle and rode off. Later, police recovered the bicycle, valued at nearly $160, and arrested Larry Harris, of the 1600 block of W. Lafayette Ave., and charged him with robbery. Following a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner, Mr. Harris was released on his own recognizance.

SHOOTING: Western District -- Police reported a resident of the 2700 block of Rayner Ave. was shot late Monday night during an attempted armed robbery near his home. Police said Ardee Smith was near his home around 10 p.m. when he was stopped by a man armed with a handgun who placed the weapon to his back and demanded his money. Police said Mr. Smith told the gunman he had no money and tried to flee. Police said the gunman fired one shot, striking Mr. Smith in the right leg. Mr. Smith was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center, where he was listed today in good condition.

THEFT: Northern District -- A resident of the 100 block of Elbank Ave. reported that someone entered her home Monday and stole property valued at more than $1,000. The victim told police she suspects a man she knows of taking the property.

THEFT: Northern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a car while it was parked in the 100 block of Beechdale Ave. between Monday and yesterday and stole a cellular car phone. Police said the telephone was valued at nearly $500.

THEFT: Northern District -- Officials of Sinai Hospital in the 2400 block of W. Belvedere Ave. reported that someone entered a room between the weekend and Monday morning and stole audio equipment valued at more than $400.

THEFT: Northern District -- A resident of the 4200 block of Ivanhoe Ave. told police that someone entered her home yesterday and stole more than $400 from her purse. Police said the victim suspects a man she knows of taking the money and that she was expected to seek a warrant for his arrest.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police reported that someone broke into an unoccupied apartment in the first block of E. 25th St. over the weekend and stole a TV, VCR and furniture. Polices said the property was valued at nearly $300 and that entry was gained by using an unknown tool to unlock a door.

THEFT: Northern District -- An out-of-state resident reported that someone broke into his Mazda while it was parked in the 3100 block of Greenmount Ave. yesterday afternoon and stole a radar detector. Police said entry was gained by breaking a window and that the property was valued at nearly $125.

THEFT: Northern District -- A physician who lives out of town reported his 1985 Cadillac was parked in the 300 block of Kendall Road Monday night when someone attempted to steal the car by popping the ignition but was unable to get it started. The physician told police that whoever tried to steal the car stole his medical bag that contained medical equipment and supplies. Police said the property was valued at more than $1,000.

THEFT: Northern District -- A resident of the 400 block of Greenway reported that someone stole a 3-foot-tall marble statue of a boy with a dog on his lap from in front of her home. The victim told police the statue was valued at more than $700.

THEFT: Northern District -- Police reported that a multi-speed bicycle was stolen yesterday from the back yard of a house in the 800 block of W. 30th St. The victim told police the bicycle was valued at more than $500.

ROBBERY: Eastern District -- Police reported that two men, one armed with a handgun, accosted a man in the 400 block of E. Biddle St. early yesterday and ordered him to give up his money. Police said the victim, a resident of the 400 block of S. Wickham Road, gave the men nearly $30 before they escaped on foot.

ROBBERY: Eastern District -- A female resident of the 1000 block of N. Caroline St. told police she was in the 1400 block of N. Caroline St. around 1 p.m. yesterday when she was accosted by a man armed with a knife and a pair of scissors who robbed her of her purse. Police said the man escaped with more than $100.

THEFT: Eastern District -- An out-of-state resident told police someone broke into her car yesterday evening while it was parked in the 1300 block of E. North Ave. and stole two leather jackets. The woman told police the jackets were valued at more than $1,000 and that entry was gained by prying open a window.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 3200 block of Elmora Ave. reported that someone broke into his home between Monday night and yesterday morning and stole a camcorder, VCR and several pieces of jewelry. Police said the property was valued at nearly $1,700.
