Man, 24, Charged With Gun Possession

A Silver Spring man was charged with possession of a handgun after police say they found him with a loaded .22-caliber semiautomatic at Annapolis Mall Friday.

Mall security officers were patrolling the parking lot near J. C. Penney at 8:45 p.m. when they looked inside a 1982 Chevrolet Celebrity and saw the gun on the floor, police said.

Two men walked up to the car and entered it. The owner of the car, Leon Richard Hollowell Jr., 24, of the 11000 block of Oak Leaf Court, told officers that the gun belonged to his cousin and he did not know it was in the car.

He was taken to Southern District Station to be charged. The other man was not charged.

BOY, 8, DESCRIBES KIDNAPPING ATTEMPT

An 8-year-old Pasadena boy told police two men and a woman tried to kidnap him Saturday while he was walking along 204th Street in Greenhaven.

According to the police report, three adults in a black car drove up to the boy at 9:30 a.m. and told him to get in.

The boy refused and ran home, police said.

Police described the suspects as white, in their late 20s to early 30s.

POLICE TOW AWAY 8 MIDSHIPMEN'S CARS

Annapolis police towed eight cars owned by midshipmen that were parked for more than 48 hours on Giddings Avenue.

A city ordinance prohibits parking in the same spot in the historic district for more than 48 hours. After neighbors complained, police towed the eight cars Friday morning. Many of the cars had out-of-state license plates, police said.

Upper-class midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy are permitted to have cars, but are supposed to park on the grounds.

CITY MAN ROBBED OF HIS NECKLACE

A Baltimore man was robbed of his necklace Saturday outside Marley Station Mall, policesaid.

Officers said the 22-year-old man and a companion were leaving the movie theater at 12:15 a.m. when three men and a woman ran upto them. One man grabbed the necklace from around his neck, and the three ran toward Americana Circle.

The man described his assailants as blacks in their late teens and early 20s.
