Baltimore City

ROBBERY: Central District -- A man told police he was robbed of $100 shortly after 9 p.m. yesterday by a woman who was reading his fortune in the 400 block of E. Baltimore St. The victim told police he was inside a fortune-teller's parlor around 9:20 p.m. and was having his palm read when someone in the dimly lighted room removed his wallet from his pants pocket. The man told police that when he realized what had happened, someone turned out the room's lights, preventing him from finding the person who robbed him. No arrests had been made in the case.

THEFT: Central District -- A man reported that while his car was parked in the 900 block of Cathedral St. yesterday, someone broke into it and stole a portable radio valued at $50.

THEFT: Southeastern District -- A man reported that someone broke into his car while it was parked in the 700 block of N. Wolfe St. yesterday between noon and 2 p.m. and stole a metal box containing tools. Police said the property was valued at $200 and that entry was gained by breaking one of the car's windows.

CHURCH BURGLARY: Southeastern District -- Police reported that someone broke into a church in the 1500 block of E. Baltimore St. yesterday afternoon but fled without taking any property when a member of the church entered a room. Police said the break-in occurred at the Little Tabernacle Church at 1501 E. Baltimore St. around 1 p.m. The intruder tried to steal an electric space heater from an office. Police said the intruder, who was wearing a red coat, escaped out the door.

THEFT: Southeastern District -- Someone broke into a car parked in the 200 block of S. Oldham St. over the weekend and stole two stereo radio speakers valued at $100.

ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- A 36-year-old woman who owns a jewelry store in the 500 block of N. Gay St. was getting out of her car not far from her business in the 500 block of Flat Iron Alley Saturday when she noticed three men standing nearby who appeared to be suspicious. Police said the woman returned to her car and locked the driver's door and was walking back to her store when she was approached by the men. Police said one of them pulled out a handgun and ordered the woman to give up her purse. Police said the armed man and his accomplices escaped on foot with cash and property, all valued at $200.

BURGLARY/ARRESTS: Southeastern District -- A resident of the 6500 block of St. Helena Ave. reported that someone broke into his home through an enclosed front-porch door and stole his Yamaha dirt bike. Police said three youths were later arrested in the burglary and the dirt bike, valued at $800, was recovered.

THEFT: Southeastern District -- An O'Donnell Heights resident told police that someone entered the back yard of his home Saturday and stole a 1979 Suzuki dirt bike. The owner of the dirt bike, a resident of the 1400 block of Mosander Way, told police the theft occurred between 5 and 9 a.m. The value of the bike was not known.

ROBBERY: Southeastern District -- A man reported he was walking through Old Town Mall in the 500 block of N. Gay St. around 8:30 p.m. yesterday when he was stopped by two men, one with a handgun, who demanded his money. Police said the gunman and his accomplice went through the victim's pockets and stole $50 before escaping on foot.

THEFT/ARREST: Southeastern District -- Police responding to a shoplifting at Santoni's market in the 3800 block of E. Lombard St. yesterday evening arrested a 35-year-old woman who attempted to leave the store without paying for medicine valued at more than $7. Police said the woman was detained by a store security officer until police arrived. The woman, police said, was held overnight at the women's detention center at the Central District pending formal theft charges and a bail hearing before a District Court commissioner.

BURGLARY: Southeastern District -- A resident of the 100 block of Aisquith St. reported that someone broke into her apartment early yesterday through a bathroom window and stole a VCR valued at $300.

THEFT: Western District -- A man reported that while his car was parked in the 2300 block of Braddish Ave. over the weekend someone broke into the trunk and stole more than $100.

CHURCH BURGLARY: Western District -- Members of the New Aduzennia Church in the 100 block of N. Gilmor St. reported that someone broke into the building over the weekend and stole property of unknown value. Police said the thief got in through a window over the front door.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Police said a woman was walking in the 500 block of N. Fulton Ave. yesterday afternoon when a man ran past her and stole her purse. Police said the man escaped with cash and property, all valued at more than $200.
