Public Asked To Speak For Phys-ed

March 26, 1992

The public gets a chance to speak to County Executive Robert Neall at 7:30 tonight in the Annapolis High school cafeteria, and acting coordinator of physical education Rick Wiles says the meeting is important for supporters of physical education.

"Those that feel stronglyabout physical education and high school athletics and don't want tosee huge budget cuts in those areas should show up and tell Mr. Neall," said Wiles.

He said if the public and parents don't tell the county executivehow strongly they feel about physical education, some drastic cuts could be made. The county could lose as many as seven to 10 phys-ed teachers, he said.

"I'm concerned because at Old Mill (Tuesday) about 120 people spoke and only two mentioned phys-ed teachers," Wiles said.
